TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR SUPPLYING PIGS TO GUBBEEN FARMHOUSE PRODUCTS / OUR PIGGY CO-OP
Thank you for being a part of the Piggy co-op we look forward to working with you. This is the first draft of our conditions. I'm sure you can understand we have no means of checking every batch of pigs you supply us with and by signing attached form you are entering an agreement with us !
Below are conditions that we would like you to agree with and conform with if you wish to provide Gubbeen with pigs / pork
WE DO NOT WISH TO BUY COMMERCIAL BREEDS REARED ON SLATS!
Non Intensive rearing We wish for the Co-op to develop a trusted and respected reputation and for the Animal husbandry to be of a high standard. Booked pigs will be removed if pigs are not at required standards!
Antibiotic free (If a necessary medicine had to be used for the health of the animal please notify us and quote the date and medicine used. your vets name and confirm the pig was held for the recommended time required ) Antibiotic testing of pork is part of our system please do not attempt)
Please be aware that we may want to visit your farm to confirm the standards you claim to be rearing at, This will be made with prior booking and for the protection of the piggy co-op.
Booking in pigs . We do not guarantee that we will take your pigs! Booking in well in advance or even better prior to farrowing or buying young will guarantee a placement on the calendar! You must have written consent from Gubbeen as well as placement on the online calendar,
Calendar event! If you do not see your name on the www.piggyco-op.com calendar then its not official (call or email in if error has been made prior o delivery of pigs) We follow this calendar at our end!
Sourced young pig conditions If you buy pigs from another farm prior to supplying us please quote the source and time of pig movement onto your farm! eg if you buy pigs older then 4 months from a piggery then we would need this declared! ( a copy of the Pig movement form will be required )
Dry Bedding and shelter for pigs when outdoors
High quality feed and water please be aware that meat can be negatively tainted from certain feeds (eg large amounts of cabbage ) this will could result in the official disposal and non payment for your pig meat affected
Correctly stamped and tagged with paperwork to match or the pig will not be accepted at the slaughterhouse
Males / Boars over 7 months uncastrated or showing ANY sign of taint will not be purchased (if a tainted pig is found there will be a charge for disposal as well as the slaughter fee – it will actually cost you to enter a tainted pig)
EDIT 2017 - intact male pigs carcass with head off weight of 100 kg / 50 kg side head off weight (approximate live weight of 140 - 145 kg - please note the carcass weight is the governing weight re cut off ) will be refused, Gubbeen will not pay any costs and a disposal cost may be incured
We pay O'Donoghues Slaughter costs personally, if you wish to pay directly that can be arranged! Each pig costs €35 which we pay directly to the O'Donoghues
PRICES MAY CHANGE, BUT SET AT TIME OF PIGS BOOKED IN
All weights are taken with head off
Any Pigs with far beyond the normal amount of fat will have a reduced rate of €1.50 per kg for the excess fat (calculated fairly back at gubbeen)
